Upper School

6-8th Grade Curriculum

Core

Scholars will engage in studies of literature, grammar, composition, civics (during seventh grade), history and geography, science, Singapore Dimensions Mathematics (6A-6B in sixth grade), and Pre-Algebra (across seventh and eighth grades). Students prepared for their first high school mathematics course will enroll in Algebra 1 in eighth grade.

Electives

Each year, scholars can choose from music, art, and Latin as elective courses. In eighth grade, Latin 1 will be available to those who have attended our academy for over one school year or demonstrate prior Latin knowledge and are ready for their first high school-level language course. Scholars needing intensive academic support will be enrolled in a suitable remediation course instead of one elective.

Our Academy’s high school curriculum follows this sequence:
• Four and a half years of history
• Four years of literature, math, and science
• One year of composition
• A semester each of government, economics, moral philosophy, music, and art

High school students will be provided with a robust classical liberal arts education that meets and surpasses Florida State Standards. Educators will be prepared to guide advanced students through Socratic Seminars, fostering sharp, logical, and self-reliant thinking skills.
